Key findings (so far):
- Italians are the largest consumers and exporters of olive oil, but produce less than they consume, relying on imports to make up the difference.
- The Spanish are becoming the dominant olive oil players. In 2016 they produced 43.6% of the global supply and their exports are on track to overtake the Italians.
- Americans are the worlds largest importers of olive oil, and have begun focusing on production to make up for trade deficit.
- In the past years, Greek olive oil consumption has been at historical lows.
